Don’t compare yourself with others. It’s okay to look at a person and see them as a source of motivation, but there is a fine line between being inspired by them and being them.
You have a pretty box of uniqueness within you. Use it! Stop saying, “I will never be as good as this person.” or “It’s useless because I’m way behind their league.”
Because if you keep on declaring those, you’re bound to believe them. And being insecure is somehow related with fear.
Why don’t you let people read your story? I’m afraid they’d say something.
Why don’t you show them your drawings? I’m afraid they’d laugh at it.
Why aren’t you opening up? I’m afraid they won’t understand.
And fear is a lie.
I’ve learned that one of the worst things we could do is to compare ourselves with others. We have a race to finish, and it’s specifically set out for us. Your race is not their race. We may have different courses, but chances are we have the same goal.
You won’t stand out if you follow somebody else’s pattern. Be different. Don’t conform.
